A: Taekwondo Kickboxing is essentially formal Taekwondo that has been trained for use under modern Kickboxing style competition rules (International, Full-Contact, Muay Thai, Sanda, etc). There have been quite a few Taekwondo style Kickboxers over the years, but there is no official "Style" for it yet. This is simply my own version of it. Q: What is your height/weight? A: My height is 5'7" (172cm), and my fight weight averages from 55kg to 63kg. Q: Do you also train in grappling? A: I have trained on-and-off in submission wrestling (gi-less grappling) since 05'. I do not have any intention to compete in MMA at this time. Q: What is in the base of the BOB/Bag? A: It is filled with around 270lbs of all-purpose sand. Q: How long have you been training? A: Around 11 Years. I'm 26 years old. Q: Who are your influences? A: Check the playlists section on my channel page to see a full list of my favorite fighters You can read my channel profile for more info.

Q: What stretches are best for this kick? A: This kick requires both moderate-to-high front & side split flexibility in order to perform it effectively. Q: Why am I wearing kickboxing shorts and not a dobok? A: Multiple reasons. Because I train specifically for kickboxing style competition (I retired from Olympic sparring in 06'), and because it's easier to see the position of my legs in shorts, as opposed to a baggy dobok.

When fighters focus too much on rechambering, they end up pulling their strikes before they delivered their full amount of force. If you focus on the important parts: the chamber to and the follow through, you will have powerful kicks. You won't have "flicky" strikes like those who focus on rechambering because it's "prettier", or because they claim it adds power, which it doesn't. It helps prevent leg catches in certain circumstances. That's it. Q: What part of the foot do I hit with? A: You strike with the bottom or outer knife edge of the heel. Kwonkicker (TKD, 55kg) vs Tahlon (Muay Thai, 63kg) - Pro Fight in ThailandJune 6th, Patong Boxing Stadium - Phuket, Thailand Micah "Kwonkicker" Brock Style: Kukki/WTF Taekwondo (1st Dan Black Belt, TKD Champion) Weight: 55kg Height: 5'7" Country: USA, Fighting out of camp "Tiger Muay Thai & MMA" ( www.tigermuaythai.com ) Previous Professional Fights 0 vs "Tahlon" Style: Muay Thai Weight: 63kg Height: 5'9" Country: Thailand Previous Professional Fights: 10 Full Muay Thai Rules. Punches, Kicks, Knees, Elbows and Clinching is permitted. 5 Rounds, 3 minutes each round. So there's all the pre-fight info for you guys. But I am pretty sure I horribly misspelled my opponents name, because I had to write it from ear since I don't read Thai. I used only Taekwondo in this fight, like always. I wanted to wear my custom TKD kickboxing shorts, but I had to wear shorts with the logo of the camp that I was representing ("Tiger Muay Thai", which is an excellent training camp that I recommend to martial artists of all styles). My opponent was also taller and heavier than me, and also has much more professional fighting experience than me seeming as how my pro record was 0 before this fight. Hope you guys enjoy the fight. Thanks for all the support from everyone! Oh, and on another note, "Jomhod" was sitting in the stadium that night! Filmed and Photographed by Robin Merrill of "TKO Car & Bike Co." in Phuket, Thailand. And lastly, to clarify: I am a Taekwondo stylist who uses formal, sport and modified Taekwondo techniques in the ring (including TKD punches ...

Kim, performing this variation of the roundhouse kick in this video: www.youtube.com Click here for more detailed martial arts tutorials by Kwonkicker: www.youtube.com FAQs: Q: Where can I buy one of those kicking dummies? Q: What stretches are best for this kick? A: This kick requires both moderate-to-high front & side split flexibility in order to perform it effectively. Q: If you hit a target with this kick, how do you go all the way through back to where you start? Wouldn't the body stop the kick before you can bring it all the way back around? A: Yes, and you can see in the video that when I make contact with a solid target my kick will bounce off back into stance. But, I want to throw my kick so that if my opponent suddenly dodges it and I miss completely, that I will kick smoothly back into place instead of throwing myself off balance with my missed kick. The key is not only to train to hit your target, but also to train for when you ...
