WHALERIDER the movieThis is a beautiful film and the scenery is gorgeous; it was shot in the exact spot where the legendary Paikea came ashore. The acting was excellent. Keisha Castle-Hughes was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress of which she was the youngest female ever nominated in the Best Actress category. She didn't win that award but in 2004, she did win the Best Actress award at the Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards.

Heathlands of Herikhuizerveld (Posbank), Veluwe (Lisa Gerrard)EN: Join me for a walk across the Herikhuizerveld (often referred as 'Posbank') where Icelandic horses and a herd of sheep roam freely around the purple heathland hills. The landscape is beautiful, the heath is flowering in it's typical purple colour. Location is Herikhuizerveld, near Rheden, in the Veluwe region, province Gelderland in the Netherlands (52° 2' NB, 6° 1' OL). The place where the film begins and ends is the highest point at 110 meters. These hills were formed during the last two Ice Ages. Please stay and watch, there is a surprise at 10:48! NL: Ga met me mee op een rondwandeling over de heidevelden van het Herikhuizerveld. In de volksmond heet dit gebied de Posbank, maar eigenlijk is dit alleen de naam van het monument in de vorm van de halfronde stenen bank bovenop het uitkijkpunt. De top heeft een hoogte van 110 meter boven NAP. De wandeling begint en eindigt op dit uitkijkpunt. De heuvels zijn stuwwallen die gevormd zijn in de laatste twee ijstijden, en zijn begroeid met heide die nu prachtig in bloei staat. Zo ver als je kijkt zijn de heuvels bedekt met een paars kleed. IJslandse paarden en een kudde schapen lopen er vrij rond, zoals je kunt zien in de film. Herikhuizerveld ligt vlakbij Rheden, op de Veluwe in Gelderland, Nederland. Blijf kijken, want op 10:48 kun je zien wat er uit de film geknipt is....
