Colbert is A PROPHET!
Haha like that'll happen (troll face)
He meant it as a joke too...
little did he know
wow
Shit that's exactly what happened.
must be a freemason
"Of course, an assassin's bullet... ended all that." lmao, the delivery is so great.
Really?
Late 60's early 70's. The Viet "nam" war, polarization, the Nixon administration, student protests, bad news in an unending stream.
I think its what we now refer to it as "the decade between 2000 and 2010.
what's a "nam vibe" ?
Holy Crap! This is so right on!
It doesn't take an expert to know that you fucked up in Iraq. It took many experts to think you did a great job in Iraq. That is irony.
ouch
Jon's face is so funny when they cut back to him.
Afghanistan will be one once we kill saddam? What does Suddam have to do with Afghanistan? Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. And it doesn't take an expert to know that we fucked up in iraq.
The "experts" must have made a lot of money.
The whole story consists of supporting Saddam Hussein by selling him weapons in the 1980s to attack Iran. Remember GWB talking about how he didn't want Iraq to attack and leave a "mushroom cloud". Nuclear weapons cause mushroom clouds. Western nations sell dictators all kinds of weapons. Ask the Kurds.
We didn't make a mistake on just our primary objective. We made mistakes on all the stated objectives, and Obama will try to spin it as victory in 2011-2012.
WMD's not nukes if you know the story (it could have been biological)
And no, most experts are not wrong in this case. While we made a mistake on our primary objective of finding WMD's, we did not lose, we did not withdraw without leaving the military defeated, and we let the dictator's faith get decided by the people. Although I don't support the Iraq war, it was not a loss.
Sir, the stated motivations to invade Iraq were nuclear weapons and a link to Al Qaeda. Neither of those existed. Therefore, we did not win anything; we lost thousands of brave American soldiers and trillions in treasure, and we deposed the Baath government and killed Saddam. Furthermore, we wouldn't have to rearm their military, if we hadn't have disbanded their military in the first place. (Thank L. Paul Bremer.) It looks like "most experts" are wrong in this case.
According to most experts, we did "win" in Iraq. We are now succsesfilly rearming their military, training their men, and reorganizing their government. Afghanistan will be one once we kill suddam.
I think bush was a good president, and I can definitely critique him on alot of things, but I think that because of the whole case of democrats and republicans crap, if only in arguments we could leave out insults, the words republican, democrats, them, they, and we. Then we could actually start solving problems in the world. Bush did good things too, the pro democrat media covered it up though
"im getting more of a 'Nam vibe"
Iraq war was out of left field, but I think Bush took 9/11 as a free pass to finish what his father started in the 90s. War was also the only way he was going to get reelected. As war time presidents are historicly hard to beat.
This clip is a testament to how absolutly off the wall Bushes 8 years war. I'm sure this wasn't Colberts prediction of the future, but a worst case joke. It coming true is quite sad.
