well done boys mean,massive,maverlous,malo uso!!
Well at least they're not disgracing the Maori Haka as always.
Fobs always trying to be Maori. LOL!
if you can perform a better job. then by all means hele on over to merrie monarch to show us how its done. then again, you have to be invited by our hawaiian cousins to perform. so with all due respect, we were invited to represent our Samoan culture to best of our agility. if youre ashamed by it, then we're deeply sorry for ill representing you. do not misadjudicate the fact that we're humbly proud of what we do here in hilo as samoans. that said. malo tupulaga o samoa mo a taeao! malo siva.
the samoan club in hilo represented their samoan culture well. with all due respect but your bickering is absurd. the faataupati is meant to be fast not slow & who ever said that rushing the faataupati dance implies that theyre nervous. kalofae.. to what legitimate reference did you get that idea may i ask? please do not condescend your own peers especially if theyre trying to represent a culture that both you and i are very fond & proud of.
hey no worries none taken. but actually the number they started with is the siva tau that manu samoa does.. it's supposed to be a war dance. in all polynesian war dances, if you rush the dance it tells your enemies that you, the performer, is nervous and/or scared if you rush it.
you can see the real way of doing it by searching siva tau on youtube. you will see a big difference..
and honestly you guys were lucky to be invited to represent our people to the merry monarch.. undeserving
no offense..but its the faa-taupati..its suppose to be like that. and its fast and they are full of energy. towards the end.where they form the v and they have the little boys in the middle, is just putting a bit of the modern dance into it. and just so you know, we do take our dances very seriously.
this is embarrassing!! o ai le toa? not you guys!! lea mea e kokope ai kou siva kau? way too fast.. no one is intimidated!! everything else was a poor display of our culture. this is not hating. this is costructive criticism. the hawaiians see merry monarch as the pinnacle of hawaiian dancing. next time take as serious as the hawaiians do.
WOW!!! That was wonderful. It reminds me of step competitions but this looks really good. I think I've seen The Rock do that dance. Good Job!!
Absolutely wonderful! Some of my students did a version of this the other day at the International Week Concert. It literally had the students up and cheering. I can't wait till I can post the footage, I'm very proud. They're in Melbourne and doing beautifully i pleased to say.
manaia le to'atele o toa o samoa ... i wish UH Manoa was as lively as Hilo ... ia malo sa'asa'a! malo sausaunoa!
The UHH Samoan club, Tupulaga o Samoa mo a Taeao performed the Men's slap dance. This high energy war dance is seen at football games by teams preparing to play. Tags:UHH Samoan clubSamoan slap danceHoike 2009
