1. If you look inside the entrance to the Cathedral there is a bench mark indicating the height above sea-level is 21 feet.

5. The suggestion that the cathedral spire is below sea level is ridiculous. If you look to the front you will see the Avon River which runs to the sea. Christhurch is built on an alluvial plain and the Cathedral is about 100 feet above sea level. It is one of the safest places on earth. M
