what song
I live in NZ, Its nice but so so cold...
Ummm.... I think you need learn a bit more geography- aborigines? You don't seem to realise that New Zealand and Australia are completely different countries with their own seperate history and indigenous groups. I mean for starters most of the kiwis in this add are portrayed as maori or part maori. The "pretty white people" are clearly the tourists visiting the country.
Also I would suggest reading up on NZ race relations history (not australian) before making anymore uninformed comments
Typical Anglophobe. Realize that these former British colonies, namely the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia are the greatest and diverse nations this world has ever known.
Here's where I'm going about three years from now. :))))))))
Pause at 0:28. One day I will live somewhere similar that in nz. But on a lake. And surf and go hiking during the day without a worry in the world. By night, listen to the wildlife and watch the rugby on tv :). Thats the dream. And it will happen, dont know when, but it will
love this ad
If genocide creates "misery for hundreds of years" afterwards, the whole world would be depressed as most societies have been colonised, subjected to murder, violence etc. You can't dispute that? How is it a weak argument? I say that your argument is weak. Tell me how it possibly affects today's generation? I imagine you can't. I will not be held accountable, or accept being subjected to your category of "pretty white people enjoying their inherited privilege".
I respect your right to your own opinion. I predicted you would say what you did to.
It still makes absolutely no sense whatsoever though.
Genocide is something that creates misery for hundreds of years after the fact for descendants of the victims and inherited privilege for the murderer's descendants. The past effects the present. Hard to move on when people try to sweep it under the rug as you want. Your argument is beyond weak and you know it.
Excuse me, people say it's in the past because that's what it is. It's people like you who like to dwell on the past that holds society back. You can't blame "pretty white people" who are living in NZ today for anything - they're not directly responsible for any historical injustices. Most countries around the world have been invaded and evolved into new cultures, people, etc. They've all moved on!
The left the part out about the genocide of the aborigines. Lord Australia and New Zealand is such an ongoing crime against indigenous peoples.
Beautiful land sullied by such wickedness. It never gets addressed either. Just:"Dude that's in the past! Stop talking about it!"
Just pretty videos of pretty white people enjoying their inherited privilege of their wicked ancestors while the indigenous peoples suffer the inherited burdens of their ancestor's victimization.
Horrible cruel and unjust.
I saw this at my english class
im going to aus this summer but i wish i was going to NZ aswell coz i think i will live in either AU or NZ later in my life
so hard to be a pure kiwi. it was just discovered yesterday lol
I want to go to NZ sooooo bad
No u better come to Pak first. Maybe you will face hard time to settle here. ;)
Once u satisfied, we will work out on a deal
Dude, I'm not the one using metaphors. There was no such thing as Italy when NZ was discovered, read a book for Christ's sake. They were a collection of fiercely independent states, much like the Balkan and Soviet nations are nowt. Anyway, I don't really care if you agree or not. The only reason I made the comment in the first place was because I found the phrase "youngest country on earth" a little ambiguous. Thank you for helping me prove my point.
refer to the video add, New Zealand was the last country to be discovered and to have humans set foot upon. We were hidden from the world, each continent had already been occupied before New Zealand.
we aint talking technically, everyone no's untechnicality terms that italy was there way before new zealand. stop using metaphors and use the word to interpret the actual meaning rather than technical metaphors.
there is no history without humans in terms of the world starting for us.
Don't kid yourself, Italy is older than New Zealand will forever be regardless if it was an established and recognized country or not.
The region was populated yes, but that doesn't make it a country with any sense of unified identity or boundaries. Provinces (many of which are now governed by France) were constantly fighting over who owned what, which is why the reformation happened in the first place. Anyway, history isn't necessarily defined by people. That's like saying NZ had no history before humans arrived. I think the ad is referencing that, like many Pacific countries, it rose out of the sea not long ago.
You become Canadian and I become a New Zealander? Sounds like a great idea, let's give it a go! Why do you want to be Canadian?
that's in establishment terms of government, however italy has history thousands of years before that, even if the country had no legal establishment or title.
New Zealand's history only goes back a few hundreds years. And thats the first recorded histoy of human establishments :)
Yeah it is. The unification of the Italian states didn't happen until 1867. Before that, Italy technically wasn't a country. NZ wasn't set up as a self-governing body until 1840.
