Goran1931...you are a sicko!!!!
im in christchurch, and its not fun
industry. To be honest I think that the uncertain future of Christchurch will further reinforce the biased growth in the North Island around areas like Auckland (Commerical centre of NZ and largest city), Hamilton and Tauranga. But even in those centres there are risks...etc..around 52 known volcanoes in central Auckland. Many are extinct but some are dormant and volcanic field is still active. So we always plan for the worst and hope for the best.
happened in a thousands years. So I assume that new plans will put in place by civil defence in cooperation with government, local government, police, emergency services, medical care and military input. To be honest I can't see Christchurch ever recovering and I would not be suprised if its growth tapered off to other areas and centres. Christchurch it is one of our larger centres but it really only a farming support centre being at the heart of our dairy
4 million people so central government is usually the only organisation with the authority and funds to deal with such disasters. As for Christchurch the city has not really ever had any large quakes until recently and before Christchurch our last killer quake was in Napier in 1931. However the situation in Christchurch has now changed and quakes are quite common as new faults have openned. Geologists are not sure what to expect as this apparently hasn't
NZ has a lot of earthquakes; we sit on the rim of the Pacific plate. We also have a lot of volcanic activity. Therefore there are always plans in effect ready to go in case of a disaster. While city councils like in Christchurch may have their own sub-plans it is central government in Wellington that takes control and makes the descisions. The local bodies would cooperate with government and are pretty much in a subordinate role. NZ is a small nation with only

GOOD FOR THEM!
SHUT THE FUCK UP!
I am looking at the devastation and heartbreak this earthquake has caused and I cannot believe the amount of people that hijack the discussion to put forward their ideas on god. Christianity is the most selfish, backwards, unbelievable religion on earth and I am sick of Christians holy-than-thou/ we are better than you approach to life. Go find a religious forum to spout your poisonous crap.

@HedebBast @HedebBast And in that respect, your idea of God is only of love and goodness and nothing of holiness, righteousness and judgement as well. That is why I have said that you may claim to know the bible inside and out but you have not learnt everything about God even the other attributes that I mentioned of Him, is also clearly written in the bible. Putting it loosely, your view of God is one of only heaven and you would rather not think of the unpleasant hell mentioned in the bible.
By falsely accusing other that they " would like to see God's hand in the destruction than the amazing populace " you are precisely trying to "muzzle" others from saying what they really believe of the situation, although it is obviously a hopeless act. Like I have said earlier, your world revolves around what you think others should think about the disaster hitting your city. But for others, it doesn't mean political correctness supercedes what they believe to be the truth.
I'm sorry, but what have I said that suggests I'm trying to muzzle anyone? Its impossible to muzzle anyone online. What I'm trying to explain is what it's like to be in the middle of something like this. Maturity has nothing to do with it. In fact, I think after all we've been through we're entitled to a little immaturity. Any person with a heart would understand that. I know I would if it happened anywhere else, and I hope it doesn't.
You have a closed mindset with which you would rather prefer to receive compassion for the destruction of your city (and rightfully so) and muzzle what others think caused the calamity in the first place, which is nothing but "selective" communication. You should grow up because no one is rejoicing in the fatalities and the destruction of your city but people would also like to point out what caused the direct hits of these earthquakes in the first place, if you are mature to hear it.
So are you saying because of political correctness, everyone is to shut up and not speak the truth as they see it , and speak only of nice things the victims want to hear? If you think so, then you are very naive because the world and indeed God doesn't operate the way you do. You are living in the clouds while denying reality. Not different from an ostrich burying your head in the sand. Even if it was my city, I would still want to know the underlying spiritual cause.
are the point of your comments to scare and already terrified populace? If they are then you're doing a bang up job. I know you never said anything about the good samartians, but from the tone of your coments it seemed that you were more willing to see God in the awful thing that happened rather then it's amazing populace.Whether I 'fear' God isn't an issue, this is my hometown. The place I was born, I grew up, and my family lives, and I refuse to leave it to die. I love my city
I do deserve that, I digressed from my promise to myself that I'd never claim to know anyone personally on the net, cause anyone can say that they know anyone to make a point. Your assertion that I've 'learnt nothing' from the Bible is fair, although it seems we've learnt different things. I, for one, would have compassion if your city had gone/ and are still going through, and wouldn't be trying to kick you when you're down, even if I thought the same as you.
You may claim to "personally" know him but you cannot refute this man's biography which has already been published in some books as well as on the internet. The whole world can see him mocking Christ in the Chrstchurch's city square on a youtube video which is hard evidence of this man's blasphemous nature. Your "knowing" the bible inside and out hardly mean a thing if you have learnt nothing from it.
You are entitled to your opinion just as I am entitled to mine. Who is denying the good deeds of the samaritans, the police and firefighters in rescuing others? Who is saying that everyone should flee the city immediately after the earthquake and not help the injured? I am saying that God-fearing people should leave this city as soon as possible because God's judgement has already fallen upon it. You are digressing from the point of my comments.
I would also like to add that God was not in the Quake, He was in the everyday people who jumped straight in to help save people instead of fleeing the city, knowing that more aftershocks would happen. The young man who ran back into a building and died trying to save a woman he didn't know. The Police and Firefighters who risked their lives for us. To answer one of your questions-we were named after Christchurch in England, just like our river is called the Avon.
Sorry, but I personally know him. One of his best friends was my art teacher. So please don't act like you know more about him then I do. Also, I went to an Anglican school through primary and high school, and had religious education every day, so I know the bible inside and out, and I could also point out scriptures that equally speak against everything you have said. As for why it happen to ChCh, well we've been expecting a big quake for 50yrs.
