Ye, I think the term Malkie is now pretty much a generic term for 'giving someone a doing' - headbutting etc, but it has its origins from threatening to slash someone... lovely! Cheers!
I asked my Girlfriend about this since she stays farther into Glasgow than i do and had probably heard some different patter than me and she has never heard of "Malkie" being used as slang for a razor, only a headbutt.Theres actually a famous scene from Rab C. Nesbitt where Mary Doll heabutts a guy for trying to kiss her/feel her up and says something along the lines of "That's it you're getting malkied" then headbutts him.
im stain 8miles from Carnouste hahahhaa
They should have had an Englishman as an engineer!
for real? oh than i guess I'm really good XD
lol - if you whiteout the subs, I wouldn't understand it either. And I'm Scottish - born in Glasgow! Lol.
well it's true that I'm able to understand some words...but not the whole thing...whiteout the "subs" I would not be able to understand most parts....but if you say it like that, I guess it's still easier for me than english people XD
... which is odd, because I think alot of German words are equivalent to Scottish.
For example - you say "nacht" - Scots say "nicht" - (at least the old fashioned Scots anyway)
Malkie is Glaswegian slang for razor blade... Malkie Fraser etc - 'You're gettin' pure malkied'
What a pile of shit. And yes I'm Scottish before you think that's the reason!
I like the subs I have no idea what they are saying.
"Set phasers to malkie!" = Set phasers to headbutt. Malkie is the glaswegian word for headbutt.
This is from a programme broadcast only in Scotland so not really for a universal audience. The English, Welsh or Irish wouldn't really get it either. The joke is that even we Scots have trouble understanding people from Tayside.
this is actualy english??
Cheerz Wack! Aye and hear me ROAR cause I've got McAllister and Denny blood pulsin thru ma veins, tyvm :)
Sorry, just realised you're a woman! Anyway cheers and much love from Scotland! :)
Good man! Glad you like us!
Not just Americans..
I spent 4 years in Montgomery Alabama and I am sure if this video was shown at a movie theater, most of the people would just sit there and think "Huh" and "wtf"? They speak way too slow to begin with (drove me nuts).
agreed! and show the Yank NO mercy! ;)
I'm American and the first time I watched this I was screamin laughing! Only understood about 20 words but I got the jist of it. Since then,I've been "educated" by several Scots (from Glasga) and it's even funnier. Scottish slang seems like my 2nd language the no. I LOVE Chewin The Fat !!!!!!! Cheerz Scotland :) xx
Ootsider explained: When you cut a loaf of bread, you get two very thick crusty slices at each end of the loaf of bread, known as outsiders. Most people will move that slice in favour of the non crusty, soft, white bread, in the middle of the loaf, but Scottish people love making sandwiches and dipping these thick slices into soup. It's not really a term for soup dipping bread, it's just good for soup dipping as it can absorb soup without falling into a pile of mush.
My grandparents introduced this to me when i was young, some of the best memories i have is watching Big Man, the two Poofs and Alastair and Rory get run over by logs
HAHAHA!!! i love this! 1:44-1:48!!!
"Will you stop keeking at ma arse you pervert?!"
