as a psychiatrist I am against anti bullying campains with a passion, because of bullying my business is booming, bullies destroy there victims self worth so the victims parents pay me $400 a week to fix there kids, and btw I don't charge $400 a session, I charge $200 a session but make the session two times a week. in other words no bully victims, no money
The reason that I have parents avoid competition-based martial arts is 2-fold. First, because competitions are designed to be "fair," and therefor a student who is trying to learn how to handle bullies will come to believe that there will always be a referee to step in to save them. The second reason is that, self-defense is and should be taught as a last-resort. Sport fighting teaches a child that they get a reward for beating up someone. This is very much like the belief system of a bully!
In one of these videos, you sugested that i'ts good to get your kids into a martial art but not for competition. Why not?
