1. I actually already do this, but with flowers! Do it.
2. Why so pessimistic? It may not be funny or mischievous, but it is positive. I think one of the points behind this act of kindness is to try to change the negativity behind a prank in people's minds. And really it is a positive thing, because nice gestures will always brighten someone's day (but apparently not everyone's day). I think you're too hung up on the whole "prank" aspect. Just do something nice for someone, that's the real message.

4. Come to think of it, we've both been kind of wrong. Positive pranking is simply a surprise. Like when my friend covered my entire workspace with brightly colored post-it-notes and threw in a pack of Reese's. The only difference is that you do it to strangers (not for). You can say that would be annoying or awkward, but I think it would make some people's day a little more interesting. Bottom line: don't use food.
5. I would argue that the name does matter. It signifies the intent upon which to asses the goal of the actions. In that sense trying to do something nice for a stranger isn't the same as positive-pranking. My problems do extend to the specific actions. You could improve upon what John does but the best way to do so would be to either commit a prank or really do something nice for someone. Positive-Pranking is this warped bastard child of the two completely different actions.
6. Some of the good things that stick with us and are far easier to reciprocate are random acts of kindness/positiveness. You're not actually helping someone when you write on a bathroom stall telling people to have a beautiful day, but it effects other's minds in wonderful ways. Sure, I wouldn't trust candy, but with a little imagination I'm sure you could do something with John's idea. If you only have issue with the name, well...it doesn't matter what it's called, really.
7. Why?! All it would do is annoy me. Seriously if you want to do something good just do a straight up good deed. Positive-Pranking sounds like something your boring and out of touch elementary school teacher would do if they were trying to make doing nice things sound cool. The only thing I like about this video was when John Green broke the law by putting candy in people's mailboxes. Just do that if you want, but don't call it positive-pranking. It's not positive, and it's not a prank.

9. I had to look this up again because I forgot what positive pranking was. This really doesn't make any sense. It's not funny or mischievous so it's not really a prank, and it's not positive because it's just awkward and if I got a bag of free unmarked candy from a stranger I probably wouldn't eat it. Tping the ground like that is just littering. Basically positive pranking looks a lot like failing to do anything that's actually positive or that's actually a prank.

11. We call it (or i call it) cherry knocing in england, when i go to someones house i never use a door bell, 9 times out of 10 it wont work!

17. Hey John. My friends and I started a nerdfighter club at our school and our first project is positive pranking all the students who attend out school (over 700 houses!). We are leaving dum dums and a note at each house. We are about 100 houses in and already seeing people happy/confused.

22. okay, so a couple years ago, (right around this time this video was put up), before i was a nerdfighter, I was having a really bad day. then i went outside to get my mail, and saw that some one had positively TP'd my lawn, and had left a short note basically telling me to have a nice day. I was perplexed and confused, but my day was infinitely better after that. Johns ideas were helping me even before I joined nerdfighteria. :)
