1. I love Gene. A true artist. Just like Johnny is, in my opinion. Both movies are unique. This one will always be my favourite though. Gene just sums up what I thought Wonka would be like. Plus the Oompa Loompa's are individual in this one, which I like - Deep Roy is a superb actor but replicating them kind of ruined it for me.

3. Ever see the movie, "Sherlock Holmes, Smarter Brother" he sings in that one also.

He said "hated"as in past tense, he was correcting your use of "Hates" Roald Dahl died in 1990 so what you should have wrote was "Roald Dahl hated this movie" . he did actually, but he is probably rolling in his grave with the new version. anyway wouldn't be the first time a writer got ticked at Hollywood for their adaptations, I believe the original Gene Wilder version is the best.
5. His wife was Gilda Radner, a funny comedian, Gene made a lot of good movies, in the 80s, but after Radner died, i guess a part of him went with her. If you can find some clips of her, and him you could imagine them as soul mates.
6. yes and no, Quaker bought the original rights to the movie, with the idea of releasing Wonka bars back in the 70s, they never produced a movie before this one, they spent 3 Million on this movie which only made 4, they also didn't make the Bars they planned to. On VHS though the original became a cult classic. with the new version, they finally tied in the Candy bars, with Depps version. years from now, the Original Gene Wilder's Wonka will live on.
