16. According to the TARDIS file he was only called Doctor Who directly once, First doctor in "The War Machines", fans wrote in and complained so angrily that they never did that again. (haven't seen the old series so can't confirm). But the thing is that it is the name of the show, and they could just ahve said "time traveling hero *from* Doctor Who" and nobody could really complain. (Remember insiders know who he is, outsiders don't need detail)
