Rockin' time again...I picked this title up from the original Nor-Va-Jak single by Sonee West, produced by well known Norman Petty (the man
behind the majority of Buddy Holly & The Crickets recordings) and recorded in his Clovis, New Mexico studios. Nor-Va-Jak was originally the
name of Petty's publishing company and derived its name from Nor(man), Va(Violet Anne, Norman's wife) and Jak(Jack Vaughan, the guitarist
in the Norman Petty Trio, originally called The Three Musical Tones). I also recorded the flip side of the Sonee West 45'er, "Sweet Rockin' Baby",
at the same session that brought "Rock-Ola Ruby" to life, as well as several other obscure titles picked out from my ever growing record collection. I have a dim memory that it all took place sometime in the early '70s in a cellar space I used to rent for a short while, until I got frustrated over the noise 'creeping' in from the parking lot just outside the cellar window! Must've had a good time cutting this one though, judging from the encouraging 'All right, Tiger' holler from the 2nd guitar break, lol! Rock on...
