Will be playing this song on friday night for the closing cerimonies for the National Cadet Biathalon competition, i play 1st trombone, and this is my favourite song to play, even though it murders my chops, great sound quality
Having trawled YouTube for the 'Highland Cathedral' melody, no-one does it better than the Band of the Royal Irish Regiment - What a shame they have since been disbanded! Where would I get an Irish Saffron kilt? :-(

First time I remember hearing this was at a Met Police passing out ceremony at Hendon about 11 years ago. Loved it ever since.

So good, no words.
Amazing piece of music, Scottish anthem, written by Germans, played beautifully by the Irish. Listen to this over and over again.
Trés belle interprétation musicale !
very nice music performance !
so proud 2 have Irish blood in me xx
oh my god.... i love it.... i can't hear it loud enough!
Wrong,The Uileann pipes are around alot longer than the bagpipes and where brought to Scotland by the Irish.
this tune was played at my fathers funeral, still get sentimental when i hear it.
The instrument being played here is the Great Highland Bagpipe which is a Scottish instrument, there are no longer any Irish war pipes in existence. Saffron Kilts, are a British Army invention bequethed to the irish regiments by Queen Victoria and based on the Kilted Highland regiments.
"Ehm isnt this a Scottish song" It has become popular in Scotland but no it isn't Scottish. It was written by two Germans.
