first exposure to "aboot" was from the tv show "you can't do that on television" and wondering why it was said that way but as far as being offended by someone joking about the way you speak, no one gets stereotyped like those of us in the southern U.S. in movies, tv shows, etc. It can be irratating so I feel your pain those of you that get mad.
The guy sounded very American. Canadians living near the border sound like Californians. There is a huge difference with how they sound in Michigan, everything is very nasal.
We say about the EXACT same way americans do. At least in Ontario we do. Theres no difference, but I heard other places in Canada they say it different, therefor we as a whole get steriotyped.
I don't get how we have an accent, I sound exactly the same as americans...
Although one time I was watching a video of canadian soldiers in combat and he really did say "Grenade oot!"
Yeah that's how we say it...
I didn't hear a difference from the dude's speech in comparison to the girls'.
Seriously, Americans, what's so funny about 'about'? As you've seen from this video, it isn't South Park's "aboot". =S
they sounded the same to me.
she just eh
I'm American, and I don't like to make fun of, but I like to joke around at how people say stuff, and its funny when they do it to me in a friendly way, if we were all the same the world would be boring you know.
its Fucking Abeut Not About
Wow. Now I'm embarrassed to say I'm Canadian. Watching too much South Park, to the point that even Canadians think we talk like that. Well your all dumb. It is now evident that we CANT think for ourselves. The Americans are right, it kills me to say it but, we should be called CanaDUH!
I could say the same about canada....
Eh? That's perfectly normal way to say about...
really don't hear THAT much of a difference between the man's "about" and the girls. I am canadian, but still.
So it's okay to stereotype as long as it's Americans who you're stereotyping? I'm starting to understand the rules now. Thank you.
i have to disagree there (atleast for myself) im not making fun of you guys. i think its pretty cool actually :) if people are making fun of it then they can just shut up and go on with their lives yeah? and i happen to part of the 10% that are super awesome and NOT FAT ! ive been to canada and it's awesome actually :)
aboot :)
I don`t get it :)
Search "Molson I am Canadian".
Same :/
Go ahead and make fun of the few words some of us say differently, At least we aren't all fat, stupid and ignorant like 90% of America
They exaggerate the way it's said when they say "aboot" and it seem to be more noticeable in the maritimes where I live. We do kinda skip the U while in most other places they pronounce it with some emphasis the U. It's hard to explain over the internet but it's kinda like they saw ab-ow-t.
A boat...lolzz...
a boat?
----> " I am Canadian and....oh wait, that's all I really need to say. "
because after " I am Canadian " everyone else stops listening
Thats how I say it, and I'm as Canadian as she gets...
