The narrator's accent is just wrong man, should be a kiwi accent
Also, they didn't make the movie to "cash in" on the first one... they made a sequel to the movie because the books they were based on had sequels. Hipsters, I swear...
That was the only thing I was confused about... I was wondering if I should read the books and if Sonny came from there, or was he an estranged kid? That was my only gripe... but honestly, the dude that played him was great. At the same time, they probably could have had Boogie in the movie a little more.
Watch it before you judge it, man... it is not a cheesy action movie. Both movies are really good, heartfelt and emotional. There is a lot of pain and strife that these characters go through and work to get out of.
I just saw Once Were Warriors, is this some like cheesy action sequel they made to cash in on the first film. Please say no!
this and once were warriors are some fims with different point of views i wanna see crooked earth its ment to be a great nz film but i cant find it
COUNTRY-NEW ZEALAND, RACE-MAORI
i seen ONCE WERE WARRIORS bad ass movie i got a question wut race and wut country is the movie taking place in also WHAT BECOMES OF BROKEN HEARTED does that mean his oldest son died so hes trying to save his younger son?
umm sunny was always there. he was one of the little kids in once were warriors
Movie was ok, but the biggest problem is they invented an extra kid, Sonny, out of freaking no where. I mean c'mon, was that really necessary.
It's a good movie. There is also a third part- not made into a movie- the book 'Jake's long shadow'.
Wow, how did I not know there was a sequel to Once Were Warriors? Can't wait to watch this!
Was this the final film or did they make another after this one
The guys voice in the trailer makes me wanna fuckin Jake the Muss him.
the kids are Nig, Mark, aka boogie, grace, polly, hueva
1 person got his ass kicked by jake so he disliked
Well Gracie's dead isn't she?
CitySkin09---exactly! This is about Jake's redemption...He's trying to come to terms with who he is. Ultimately, he's trying to be a better person. I've never seen this movie, and Im totally psyched to see it just from this preview, (first time I've seen it :)and the few "clips" on youtube that I've seen.....The "Muss" will ALWAYS kick ass, regardless. this just shows he has a fucking heart, as well :)
Pretty much.
There's ten minutes worth of good scenes and the rest is garbage. Seeing MC OJ getting smacked over is worth the price of admission alone.
How interesting, will use that in the future if it ever comes up in discussion. And yes you are right in saying that there's always going to be a Jake somewhere, it is rather inevitable.
This was based on Alan Duff's experience staying with a school friend, not his own family. I heard that 3rd hand, through word of mouth, from people that, like me, grew up in the area. Jake was based on an actual person, but don't have to move to NZ, or look in a low income area to know someone like him.
Once Were Warriors is about what Jake should have been ( and what he would probably have been if he'd been born generations earlier) but what he has become instead, a slave to the drink and to his fists. The movie shows how this destroys him and everything aorund him. What Becomes of the Broken Hearted is about him going through the process of becoming a warrior again, fighting for what is important but also learning to control himself like a warrior controls his weapon in battle.
lateral violence, misplaced, through colonisation...we end up eating each other..look for the real enemy..
"THIS SUMMER, TEMUERA MORRISON IS, JAKE THE MUSS" *WOOOSSH*
