how can we change today's music back to when every song sounds so good in the 80's and 90's....
used to sing along when i was 17 ears old
Duran has one eye looking back on the 80's, but REFINED for lasting reflection.
Duran's other eye is cast to future speculations, with reassuring optimism.
We could use more songs like this, lyrics carrying vital messages within carefully calculated orchestration.
It's a vital reminder to appreciate our past, but not get absorbed pining away for it!
Guides us back to enjoy people and situations in the present, before they too are gone as only missed opportunities, to keep looking forward!
My god, it's nearly 20 years old = gulp
Best for....for....ever =o) <3
That's really cool.
Epic...
Something about 80's music that makes a person float when you listen to it... and yes, I know this song is actually early 90's, that's not the point.
I have this OTHER bad habit of responding to everyone who takes time to contact me, friendly, benign, even hostile. I make no distinction. I may not offer IMMEDIATE response (sometimes I'm at work, sleeping, or both). I TRY to get to everyone eventually. Some (human beings) seem more deserving of attention than others. But no child left behind IS a worthy policy. Some are never reached in time. That doesn't mean I shouldn't try! Someone besides the designated organ recipient may still be saved!
What drivel. "Overly self-important writers"? You're not a writer - you're a guy who talks guff on comment boards - and for middle of the road pop fodder at that. If you were de constructing something poetically challenging (bob Dylan, Tom Waits etc), your ill deserved air of literary pomposity, may suit more.
"Some of the love for people and the world and the wind and the leaves and the sky that we have had as children is at LEAST as real as anything during our adulthood". Babble. Just babble
Self absorbed waffle. Like I said - you probably should have ignored him
Best thing that happened to Duran Duran was the fact that they where written off by the record labels.
That let them focus on what's important.......the music. As this song attests.
Just listen to the song..
Curiousity sparked, I tried to search for KEVIN SMITH SCRIPTS. Amidst vast amounts of information overload, I got "Recognized for his sharp dialogue and witty banter, Kevin Smith has garnered a following that has elevated his work far beyond cult-hit status." So I guess you really WERE trying to compliment my similarity! Thanks. I saw a footnote saying, "for further analysis, ask guanajo7, THE expert on rambling nonsense." So you see, I have only YOU to turn to for edification on such subjects.
Can you smooth that out a little? I don't even KNOW kevin smith scripts. Are they a favorite pastime? I mean OTHER than taking the time to comment on some perceived nonsense? I'm asking because you sound like some kind of EXPERT on rambling nonsense. I guess everyone has to be good at SOMETHING. Forgive me for accidentally stepping on your forte. I know you were just trying to help me to advance to YOUR informed strata. Be patient, gentle. It's a far reach for me to get even CLOSE to YOUR level!
I had no idea that this song was originally done by Duran Duran. I thought that this was a RED song. Great song, nonetheless. Being the rock lover that I am, I naturally like RED's version better. That is only my humble opinion though.
What a beautiful song. F anyone who doesn't agree.
you sir are a rambler of nonsense. you read like a kevin smith script.
It can HELP to be a tad pretentious to express some of the complex concepts that occur within the 500character constraints. One almost HAS to come on as "pretending" that what they see is actually more FACTUAL than THEORY. Saying "maybe", "possibly", "sometimes", "Often", "alternatively", every time to accompany a projected concept, reduces the impact, and actually DETRACTS from what should be said by sheer attrition of words. People (even I) ALWAYS have the reserved right to agree or disagree.
Differences between YOUR comment and that of MrSyrett's is glaringly obvious to me. He used my name in a third person reference, INTENTIONALLY designed to draw attention (using an ARROWBOARD, no less!) to YouTube readers to my "flawed" characteristic habit of being both ARTY (insulting) AND PRETENSIOUS (another insult!), wheras YOU were politely admitting that I CAN be a TAD PRETENTIOUS (which ALLOWS for the possiblity that I may STILL have something of value to say, despite). Thanks for that.
THAT'S where my KEEN SENSE OF PRETENSE has a most positive benefit! The best practioners, THE PRETENSIOUS MASTERS (of which I am DEFINITELY one), have their verbose craft so well honed, they KNOW who the assholes are! A subtle difference makes ALL the difference. Overly self-important writers, have a double-edged sword at their fingertips: experience in using words for MAXIMUM benefit for their own MOST exagerated syntaxial impact, also allows INSTANT detection of another's facetious intention!
To be honest - i didn't sense any hostility in what the other guy said. If you did, perhaps you should have ignored him
That's more like it! You see, I don't sense ANY hostility in that. I can accept that. I can admit that. I know that. I even like that. Intention is everything!
