1. I'm from MD... we have accents... my family has been in MD for 70+ years, and they all sound different. Esp. my step-father's family who live on the eastern shore.
2. Yes, to a Canadian, everything south of Pennsylvania on the eastern coast will have a bit of a southern twang to it. Even most of Pennsylvania sounds a bit southern to me.
3. You can't say that you "have no accent". All accents are relative. You do have an accent when heard by someone with a difference accent.
4. Western US has a gazillion accents and dialects, too. Someone from rural Idaho won't generally speak like someone from Boise, and nobody else talks like people from California's San Fernando Valley.

6. Rednecks are not from a specific area, nor do they all have the same dialect. "REDNECK" is a lifestyle/mentality, you can't consider everyone a redneck just because of their accent. People associate the word with southerners who live in trailers with a few old cars up on blocks, and I agree, those ARE rednecks, but the redneck lifestyle can be found in ANY city, even NEW YAWK CITY.

14. The South has tons of accents, for example Florida is different than Georgia's and Ga'ns can barely understand the Louisianan Cajun accent. Lol
15. There is a very noticeable difference between the Philadelphia region accent and the Pittsburgh/Central-Western Pennsylvania region accent. I know, I grew up 50 minutes northwest of Philadelphia and have spent the last two and half years in State College, Pennsylvania.

19. I live in Northern ky and if i go into southern ky i hear the "red neck" accent everywhere. My boyfriend lives about 40 minutes from me and i can hear his accent but he doesn't think i have one
20. My mom says if you live somewhere, but go somewhere else for a long time, you sort of adopt the accent.
21. Kind of a bad map. The Appalachia pretty much ruins the entire thing.
22. I think that everybody actually has an accent. We just don't notice it when we're around people who talk like us. I'm from South Dakota.
