2. Not to mention America's victory over the British. I guess, it's quite a feat considering they were the second most powerful Empire in history! But please do not confuse intelligence with violence, or peacefulness with weakness. I am in no way dis-valuing America's achievements, but out of all of the great things to come from America, being able to kill more people than another country isn't something to prize.
3. Your second point. "america was established by people who escaped religious persecution" During the 1800's South of Australia was explored. In 1836, it's capital Adelaide was established. The suburbs of Adelaide were colonised and populated many central-western European's trying to escape the Catholic takeover of Europe. In 1839, in the German-settled town of Hahndorf, the first Australian Lutheran Church was established, as well as a primary school which I happened to have attended.
4. 2. The amount of convicts sent to Australia does not even compare to the legal migrants. Over 80 years about 165 000 convicts were sent to Australia. In the year of 1852, 370 000 migrants came to Australia. By 1871, the population and quadrupled, which would lead one to intelligently guess that this was because of migrants not convicts
