This is actually a combination of two scripture songs. The first part (Isaiah 40:31) is a fairly well known melody, but the second part (Psalm 27:14,13) I learned from a friend who learned it from sheet music. The sheet music actually had a different melody for the Isaiah part, but I prefer the other melody, so I used it instead and then used the melody that I learned from my friend for the Psalm 27 part. I don't know the composer of either melody, but I think they work well together.
They that wait upon the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up
With wings as eagles;
They shall run and not be weary;
They shall walk and not faint.
Teach me, Lord,
Teach me, Lord, to wait.
Wait upon the Lord,
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen thine heart. (x 2)
I had often fainted
Unless I had believed
To see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
Wait upon the Lord,
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen thine heart
Wait, I say, upon the Lord.
