So many americans seems to think theyre Irish in spite of knowing nothing of the culture and having never visited the place. Its like everyone in America thinks theyre another nationality other than American until it serves them more to claim theyre American. I guess they all want to feel exotic when they should just be proud of who they are, not who their great, great, great grandfather was.

the stereotyped Australian accent is very similar to the Cockney dialect spoken in east London not really suprising tho most of the early prisoners who were sent to Australia were from poor Cockney English families .
Well since you asked so nicely ( Thanks , BTW ) ," Cockneys " is a slang term for lower-class citizens of South London often stereotyped as loud , rude , binge-drinking , foul-mouthed , overweight , lazy hooligans with terrible hygiene who complain about all the hard work they do while sitting around on their asses ( or " arses " for Brits and some Aussies and Kiwis )and drinking themselves to death .
