I have no clue of the Gaelic language, but I do have a good bit of knowledge of German and to me that is the closest kin.
you try inventing a language with frozen lips ,in the wind.
i think that the people who speak galic are atlantean in origen.they have straight black hair. when the continents moved they got on to ireland with the picts who were nice to them and the red hairs came slowly over time from the north all about 12000 years ago there are red hair people all the way into america( nevada) from that time also. they were all icy sea farers. my indian relatives know of the dark straight hairs / red hairs they married with the black hairs and fought with the red hairs
I don't want to live on this planet anymore
Well my goodness, thank goodness the Irish people speak English now because that is one ugly language.
As far as I know, Scottish Gaelic speakers can only understand written Irish and visa versa.
I'm alright with Irish but damn she was goin fast e_o
it sounds so strange! i love it, it have the feeling that the g/ch sound a bit eastern european (i'm from polish decent), whereas the r sounds more like the english language. very beautiful and very complex language, i'd love to learn it!
she's absolutely breathtaking! And so fluent!
The latest wisdom is that Gaeilge (or the Indo-European dialect it developed from) has been spoken in Ireland since the Bronze Age c.4,500 years ago. However, I think it makes more sense to postulate that the Indo-European language arrived and Ireland during the Neolithic, with the spread of farming, and quickly developed into a local I-E dialect and then a seperate I-E language, as with the many other European languages.
Totally agree with you Draoi99, some very poor level of knowledge shown in some of these comments - sad to see so much ignorance.
By the way Zyggy32, I get the feeling you can't speak Irish - it's a great pity that you can't hear just how beautifully and without any difficulty she speaks it. She's even better looking lately - has a whole gothy thing going on - was biting my lip watching her on the weather yesterday.
I cannot believe how long this discussion has been going on -- information overload.
Gaeilge and Gaidhlig started to diverge much earlier than the 15th century. Gaidhlig is thought to have been spoken in Scotland since at least the 4th century AD. However, by the early 17th century, monoglot Gaidhlig-speaking planters coming into northeast Ulster found it almost impossible to understand local Gaeilge speakers.
Just found out that Gaeilge and Gàidhlig were really the same up until the 15/16 century where they changed from being mutually comprehensible dialects of one language into separate but closely related languages.
Tuige go nach dtaithníonn an chainúint sin leatsa?
Báiste aniar, mar is gnáth. Had a look at the comments, so much disinfo. All languages are equally old, they just change over time.
Gaelic languages sound beautiful spoken by women
Is this the language of the brigantes? Would this be similar to Caledonian languages around 100-400 AD at the time Rome was in Britania?
irish and scottish languege is very close both forms of the language are from the Goidelic branch of the celts along with manx (isle of mann ) all use alot of the same words
She slurs them R's really badly.
Yes, it does, but I cannot detect one. I speak a fair bit of Gaelic (Scottish version), but I cannot understand Irish very well - there are too many differences. What about her accent do you find so deplorable?
Irish comes with accents too.
According to my research, primitive Irish (this is not meant negatively - it's a linguistic term) dates back to around 400 AD - so 1,600 years. However, the Celtic languages that preceded Irish are much, much older (anywhere from 1200 to 2500 BC). So you're listening to a language that developed more than 3000 years ago.
Well, it's only been around for approximately 1600 years...
What accent? She speaks Irish, which is Gaelic language.
I knew I would only have to scroll down to the fifth comment that had to do with boobs lol
