ok :)
Yes Strine is similar to Cockney from London but not surprised at its origin
Haha! so true! I was born in Australia but my mum is English and my dad is American, so I use many "American" and "English" words mixed in with my Australian so people quite often get confused lol I use the American words sometimes for things and Australian words for the things other times. My language is quite askew lol
yesssss :)
hehehehe, I never realised so many people have a problem with Aussie accents... I wanna go on a holiday in america or someone and talk full strine and then people would be going, "what the hell....."
You mean Strine Mate. Like Frog and Toad Rubbery Dub Dog and Bone Cheese and Kisses Billy Lids. And then we Aussies shorten phrases
Struth Mate don't start with Aussie Strine you would lose the Americans completely. Strine Aussie Rhyming Slang
Actually in australian accent you can find a few odd words but finally it's quite similar to BE... (cockney?)... american is much more different.
Cellphone in America
Mobile in Australia
the main difference is the way us aussies join our words together, its like one long slurry of words shoved together to make 1 word
You forgot ketchup vs tomato sauce. Tomato sauce is purely Australian :)
We call them petrol stations too, and we have biscuits and cookies too, no idea that this guy is on about! Biscuits are savoury, cookies are sweet, very generally speaking. Cookies are for kids :)
'english speaking languages' ?????
what real bug me is in American English they say faucet when they mean Tap, a faucet is a pump the you manually have to force water up from a well. a tap it gravity or preshuer fed.
one of the funniest words it rubber love the meaning it has in America
But the things like dummy nappy and boot are the same
I live in in England and its mostly the same as Australian English but we call trucks lorries we call gas stations petrol stations we have biscuits and cookies but I don't really know how to explain the difference and most of our tv and media is American so we can understand it easily we also call Australian English Australian and American English American and we call our language English
background's music is so porno! wicked mate
I'm speaking purely from experience. Everytime I asked for 'Coke' they gave me this blank ass look, and asked what I wanted again/
I live in canada and if you ask for a Coke yo will get a Coca-Cola. I believe it is the same in the states...
ute ??i couldn't even find it in dictionary
Yeah but definitely not the same. Canadian and American on the other hand...
yea we are built of English convicts luckily not built off America we dont want another county like that.
I had to enunciate 'Coca-Cola' every time I wanted a Coke when I went to the States last year. Its actually ridiculous how different the languages really are,
There are different words within Australia as well, in the different states eg: stobie pole, fritz, devon swimmers/ bathers, port/bag, deli/milk bar, pint, schooner/ pony and heaps more!
Hi, I'm from Brazil! I loved this video, I'm going to subscribe. This one was really interesting, I didn't know that there were so many differences. It's really cool. And I just love Australia and New Zealand's accent. <3
