8. Hmmm, ya, kinda does.I see it non-stop here in the states, especially with my job, but I'm the complete oppossite. My childhood was hell, & if not for my God-Father there in Scotland, I'd be completely mental! LOL He drilled into me, to look for the bright side in everything/everyone, help when someone needs it, no such thing as "can't do", & no matter how bad things get, you can still find happiness,if only you will look, &can't have problems w/o a solution; so try to live by that ;)

16. lol I think the general stereotype with Scots are, we're known for being very honest and seen as humble, thus foreigners tend to trust us a lot, I've found that. The thing with a Scot, you can tell whether their angry or not, we're very straight forward and straight to the point. Maybe some are different, but a common Scot I know, expresses how they feel and are not scared to show it. We're known for even bringing the English down to earth hahahaha :D However...

Yeah, it's hard to explain, but never heard it called aggressive at all....Most of the time, it's more 'mono'....ummm, it's a weird combination of being calming, but yet msytifies...as you never really can tell, without seeing a Scot when they talk, what they are really feeling...don't mean that in a bad way. American's, well, 90% of the time u never even have to look to see what they are thinking or feeling for sure...Ok, that did not make much sense at all :(
19. It's strange that, there was a survey saying the Scots accent sounded very friendly or something, I'm not sure, but I couldn't explain or answer that lol and how come from our accent, certain folk think we're aggressive? lol is it because of the tone of how we say things? lol :D
20. lol the English and Scottish accents are entirely different though. To be fair though, I don't know many who could pull off the Scottish accent, most that try, tend to sound Irish. And I think the exact same thing about the Americans, and tend to adore the certain American lassies accents, perhaps because it's so different sounding, hard to explain :)

Also, from listening to you, my Scottish dad, & Craig, even tho all your accents are a bit different, they all carry common qualities...You guys do sound laid back, calm, so self assured, & it's kinda calming, tho dkw...But the drawback is, that unless a Scotsman is really angry with ya, u don't know it! Seriously man, all the time with dad, I never could tell if he was angry, unless I was actually looking him in the eye, or very rare, would raise his voice. Not talkin' getto here tho ya know?
22. Americans love the accent for many reasons...Mostly the girls here find it so sexy, & the guys, well, think "James Bond", even tho I already know your take on Sean Connery LOL! So, yup it's kewl in many ways. I don't like my American accent at all, so wish we could trade for a day!LOL What frustrates me, is I can pick up Harry Potter accent, but not Scottish or Australian...uuugggh! ;)

I get what you mean :) we perceive the Geordie and Welsh accents the same, and I love their accents specifically for how they talk and sound, I suppose in many regards, because am used to hearing my own people talk so often, I don't hear what others hear, so I kind of get what you mean :) As for the 3 legged haggis, I shall go on a hunt in November, when I go up north lol :D even record one lol :D probably on a plate lol

Scottish Accent Video Glaswegian - I have noticed a lot of people impersonate the Scottish accent or a lot of people that do not understand a word we are saying, purely because the Scottish dialect is very different and that our Scottish accent can come across quite strong that it may confuse people. So I came up with these serious of videos to help people better understand the Scottish accent and dialect There are various different Scottish dialects up and down the country, from Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and various other parts of Scotland like Ayrshire. The Scottish accent varies from place to place you visit in Scotland as we don't all talk the same way. You will find despite Glasgow being one hour train distance from Edinburgh, the difference in both accent's is pretty strong. There are certain words they perhaps may use that we Glaswegian people use different terminology, an example would be that Glaswegians say wean of a child, whereas Edinburgh, they say Bairn. Same applies for both Dundee and Aberdeen. You will however find that there is a common Scottish dialect throughout Scotland, despite the different terminology for certain things and different Scottish accent varieties. Examples of common Scottish dialect would be, 'Cannae', meaning 'Cannot', or 'didnae' for 'did not'. A very common Scottish word for the word 'know', to 'know' someone, is to 'ken' someone. Glasgow tends to be the only part of Scotland I find that rarely if ever, uses the word 'ken'. It is however very common around Scotland, so if they say 'Aye a ken', they're saying 'Yes, I know'. The Scottish accent can be quite thick and strong at times and we do speak pretty quick, so if you struggle to understand people in Scotland, ask them to speak slower, ask politely what they said, and any Scot would be more than happy and willing to help you. Too often I have seen the Scottish accent butchered by so many people and I do not blame people because they struggle to pull it off, it seems as though the Scottish accent seems the most difficult accent on the planet for people to pull off. Someone once told me it is because we have different tones to how we speak, although, I'm not quite sure. I find it funny however that impersonators seem to sound Irish when they attempt Scottish. Although some people can be pretty good. So I hope from the Scottish accent videos I can help people better understand Scottish dialect and as to how we talk. Common words you hear people impersonating the Scottish accent get completely wrong, and one of them is the word 'you'. We use two different words, 'Ye' and 'Ya' and is important to know when to use them. Although sometimes we do use the proper word 'you', and pronouncing it correctly can also be important.
